In 1919, Baden-Powell introduced a standardised system for leader training at Gilwell Park, near London. Completing the course earned leaders a ‘Wood Badge’, represented by a pair of wooden beads. Recipients carved their own second bead. In 1987, four beads were returned to Dinizulu’s grandson.
